About Us

Pomme Boots Society is an organization for women working in the cider industry. The group supports positive network connections, education and professional development for women in the dynamic field of cider.

Founded in 2015, by Gemma Fanelli Schmit, Jennie Dorsey and Jana Daisy-Ensign in Portland, Oregon, Pomme Boots is featured in the current issue of CIDERCRAFT Magazine.

Gemma has been a team member at Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider since its inception in 2011. She
is currently an integral force in the taproom and at events. Growing up working in the culinary world, her interest in cider developed in connection with a love of cooking and flavors, on the plate and in the glass. Her passion for cider and for making people feel welcome is infectious. She has a bachelor's degree in communications from Loyola University and speaks Italian. Gemma has recently started a business with her sister and dad, bringing travelers to their ancestral home in the hills of Tuscany. In Portland, her family of six runs a tiny urban farm.

Jana is the National Cider Ambassador for Finnriver Farm & Cidery. She manages distribution, sales and events across multiple states and two providences of Canada. Her background includes over a decade of experience in craft beverage distribution, sales and events. She has worked with wine, beer, cider, sake and mead in direct sales and producer representation, with an emphasis on organic and family farm producers. She has a graduate degree in communications and has worked in the non-profit sector. Jana’s passion for cider
deepened with her passion for sustainable agriculture as she debuted into small scale farming and orcharding when her family bought a farm in 2009.

Jennie is the Regional Sales Manager and future cidermaker at soon to open facility in Portland
for Schilling Cider. She first learned about cider when she moved to England in 2005. She completely fell in love with the local cider culture and the nuance of the beverage. Jennie worked in numerous areas within the industry including managing a pub in England, orcharding, picking, pressing, production, sales, marketing, and distributor management.
